Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD)

Chronic Wasting Disease (CWD) is a disease of deer and elk caused by an abnormal protein, called a prion. Although CWD has not yet been linked to any human infections, other prion diseases in animals have been linked to human diseases such as Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD).
