Minimum Qualifications	Transfer qualification: Permanent or Contingent-Permanent Service as a Sr. Building Construction Engineer OR one year permanent OR contingent-permanent service in a title eligible for transfer under Sec. 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Provisional qualifications: Two years of engineering or architectural experience* supervising or inspecting building construction projects AND a New York State Professional Engineer's License and current registration OR a New York State Registered Architect's License and current registration. *This experience must have included responsibility for the inspection of the structural and architectural elements of the building. Experience that has been limited to mechanical and electrical subcontracts is NOT acceptable.
Preferred Qualifications	Experience in the design, development and review of health care facilities.
Responsibilities	Working in the Bureau of Architectural and Engineering Facility Planning, the Senior Building Construction Engineer will perform a wide variety of engineering review and duties to ensure the compliance by health care facilities with all applicable State, Federal and local environment laws, rules and regulations. This position requires a high level of responsibility, independent judgment and technical expertise in engineering. The incumbent will also provide engineering review services to assist the Bureau in evaluating projects proposed by medical facilities throughout NYS. Reviews include application of the Life Safety Code and other provisions of NFPA Standards, the Nation Plumbing Code and the National Electrical Code. The incumbent will perform on-site inspections of projects under construction and generate a report of acceptability, including a list of deficiencies then review and approve plans of correction.
Conditions of Employment	Full-time; Permanent for transfer candidates; Provisional pending examination for all other candidates. Candidates must have a NYS Professional Engineer's License and current registration OR a New York State Registered Architect's License and current registration.
