| Minimum Qualifications | A license and current registration to practice as a registered professional nurse in N.Y. State; in addition, you must have either a bachelor's degree in nursing or a master's degree in business admin, health care, health services admin, or public admin, and 4 years of post-licensure geriatric nursing experience in a geriatric facility having at least 100 beds, 2 years of which must be geriatric nursing administrative and/or management experience. If you possess a master's degree in nursing it may be substituted for 1 year of the geriatric nursing admin/mgmt experience. |
| Responsibilities | As the Director Veterans Home Nursing 1, you would direct and manage the nursing dept. of the NYS Veterans Home, a long-term care/skilled nursing facility for veterans and their dependents (252 beds). You would be responsible for developing and adhering to the nursing department's budget, providing quality care to patients while meeting all applicable laws and regulations, overseeing the depts. day to day activities (nursing practices, policy and procedure implementation, staffing, recruitment, staff development, etc) and collaborating with other facility managers to provide the best possible services to patients. |
| Conditions of Employment | The above salary range is as of 4/1/08 and includes the increased hiring salary amount and geographic pay. There is also location pay of $1850.00.
A state employee will get either a percentage increase and/or the starting salary (whichever is higher). * This may be filled on a provisional basis but must meet minimum qualifications and must take the next Civil Service exam for this title and have a reachable score. Hours to be determined/discussed at interview. Mostly days, but need to be flexible and be available for Evening/Night/Weekends as necessary. |
