| Minimum Qualifications | New York State employee with one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a Senior Accountant, G-18 OR one year or more of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service as a G-18 or higher in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. Trainee Qualifications: NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent competitive service in any title allocated to G-12 or higher, and eligible for transfer under Sections 70.1 or 70.4 of the Civil Service Law. Note: Some transfers may require proof of a bachelor's degree and/or completion of 24 credit hours in accounting/auditing. Some transfers may also require candidates to have a passing score on the Professional Accounting/ Auditing positions exam. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Knowledge of and experience with the financial aspects of the Medicaid program, including experience in dealing with Medicaid providers and the State's Medicaid fiscal agent, Computer Sciences Corporation. Knowledge of Office of the State Comptroller financial requirements and procedures. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Any experience with database software, especially including FoxPro. |
| Responsibilities | The incumbent's duties will include: preparation of weekly funding reports for all Medicaid checks released to providers, the processing of requests to withhold provider payments that may be received from within DOH as well as from other governmental agencies, responding to numerous provider or withhold requestor inquires on payment/recovery issues, preparation of expenditure information for required federal quarterly expenditure reports, and assisting providers with billing problems by arranging for them to receive their Medicaid reimbursement in an accelerated manner under certain conditions. |
