| Minimum Qualifications | 70.1 Transfer Candidates: Current Department of Health or NYS employee with one year permanent or contingent-permanent status as an Associate Medical Facilities Auditor, Associate Auditor, Associate Accountant, or Tax Auditor 2 (all parenthetics) OR current DOH or NYS employee with one year permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Management Specialist 2 or Child Support Fiscal Specialist, and 24 college credits in Accounting or Auditing. - Provisional Promotion Candidates: Current Department of Health employee with one year permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Senior Auditor, or Senior Medical Facilities Auditor OR Current DOH employee with one year permanent or contingent-permanent service as a Management Specialist 1, Management Specialist 1 (Spanish Language) or Senior Social Services Management Specialist, and 24 college credits in Accounting or Auditing. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Two years of accounting/auditing experience; knowledge of the Medicaid and Medicare programs; six months supervisory experience; excellent verbal/written communication, analytical and personal skills; knowledge/experience with computers, particularly for audit activities. |
| Responsibilities | Duties include: conducting and/or supervising audits per OMIG audit policies and standards; supervising multiple staff in multiple locations, where staff is performing Medicaid provider review and financial audit activities; reviewing audit packages and appropriate fiscal support; targeting areas of audit in conjunction with supervisors; gathering and researching data pertaining to the project, provider, billings and rates; conducting entrance and exit conferences; preparing work papers, spreadsheets, and other schedules to document the audit and record findings; conferring with audit and program staff and other agencies to obtain answers to questions and additional data, as needed; preparing correspondence, draft and final reports; and working with legal staff to prepare cases for hearings and providing testimony, as necessary. |
