| Minimum Qualifications | Current Department of Health employee with permanent or contingent-permanent status as a Health Care Surveyor 2 OR current Department of Health or other NYS employee with one year of permanent or contingent-permanent service in a G-17 title or higher deemed eligible for transfer to Health Care Surveyor 2 under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law. |
| Preferred Qualifications | Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Ten years clinical nursing experience with at least four years experience in medical/surgical nursing. Quality assurance and utilization review experience. Experience analyzing medical data to identify patterns or questionable practices. Experience with Medicaid policy, guidelines, rules and regulations. Experience with or willingness to learn Microsoft Word, Lotus Notes and Department of Health Computer systems (EMedNY, Data Warehouse, DataMart, etc), and strong oral and written communication skills. |
| Responsibilities | Health Care Surveyor 2 G-19 will be responsible for provider reviews of all provider types enrolled in Medicaid. They will function as a member of a multidisciplinary team reviewing claims for duplicative, excessive or contraindicated care or services. They will also review claims data to identify quality of care issues or fraudulent billing. |
