Minimum Qualifications License and current NYS registration as a Professional Nurse and two years of experience performing utilization reviews, claims adjudication, reviews of requests for medical services, medical review and/or investigations of fraud and abuse for third party payers/designees or government entities; or surveillance/monitoring of entities licensed by or contracted by state, local and federal agencies; OR three years of clinical or administrative nursing experience in a medical facility; OR a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and two years of clinical or administrative nursing experience in a medical facility.

Responsibilities The Health Care Surveyor Nurse may perform quality assurance reviews, conduct surveys or complaint investigations of nursing homes, hospitals and other health care facilities and providers, or investigate complaints of alleged misconduct on the part of the professional health care providers.
Conditions of Employment Provisional pending examination. Maintaining licensure and registration is a condition of continued employment. In addition to passing the NYS examination for this title, to retain certain positions, candidates must also be certified through an appropriate federal testing process.
