The NYS DOH Cancer Services Program (CSP) is pleased to announce the statewide contractor meeting which marks 20 years of service in the provision of early detection and education for breast, cervical and colorectal cancer through community-based partnerships throughout the state.

- Ovarian Cancer Education, Awareness and Support Initiatives
- Mobile Mammography Initiatives
- Community-Based Cancer Support Services

What will Participants Learn?
Meeting participants will benefit from keynote presentations and interactive workshop sessions by national and state experts addressing the latest public health issues and trends and clinical and scientific updates in the areas of breast, cervical, colorectal, prostate and ovarian cancer. Participants will also receive CSP policy and procedure training along with other program updates and will be provided with structured forums for sharing best practices with peers. Information sharing and structured networking complement the agenda.
Proposed topics for this year's meeting include:
- Pre-meeting sessions: orientation for new CSP screening partnership staff; mobile mammography initiative issues; cultural competency in cancer care; and grant writing
- Key note presentations: Who are the uninsured?; multicultural marketing; the national perspective on cancer from the CDC; healthcare in New York State
- Clinical issues workshops: new technologies, clinical care, cancer research, accessing treatment, medical management and clinical issues for survivors, and public health messages about cancers without screening tests
- Communication, outreach and education workshops: promoting your program and working with the media; illegal immigration issues; how to talk about cancer survivorship; legal issues; identifying and reaching the priority population; and making clinical information understandable
