Groundwater Management Specialist

The Groundwater Management Specialist title utilizes electronic groundwater quality databases in the development of technical management strategies to protect water quality in public and private water sources. They analyze these databases to draw conclusions, prepare reports and assist other environmental health staff in deciding protective plans of action. They may also apply computer modes to existing situations to generate new ideas, oversee staff gathering information and implementing improved water delivery strategies and evaluate reports on hazardous waste and other potentially contaminated sites to assess the impact of groundwater.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications for the Groundwater Management Specialist title include a Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university in environmental engineering, hydrology, geology, biology, chemistry, natural resources management, or public health with an emphasis in groundwater/ water resources management and 2 years experience in any combination of the fields mentioned above. A Master's Degree may be substituted for one year of experience.
