2007 Childhood Obesity Prevention Initiative
Description
New York State obesity prevention funds in the Governor's 2006-07 budget support healthy eating and physical activity interventions and environmental changes in child care centers serving low-income children and youth.
Reach
The staff of 120 child care centers will receive training on the EWPHCCS curriculum and a tool kit to implement the curriculum with pre-school children and their parents.
Evaluation
During the first year of this project success will be based on the extent to which trained child care center staff implement the curriculum to pre-school children enrolled in their center and their parents.
